SOLD!

Madogwy has sailed from the icebergs of remote north east Greenland all the way to Patagonia in the last 9 months, where we are currently cruising her. She is 100% ready to go and strategically located in Puerto Montt to explore Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Perhaps before you return her to the North Atlantic via sunny Brazil? Or maybe you have your sights set on the South Pacific via Galapagos? Or just maybe you want a ready-made platform to do that trip of a lifetime to Antarctica! Madogwy's sister ship Spailpen has just done it, twice!

Details of Sale

Transfer of UK ownership is easy for any nationality. For those interested in purchasing, an in-person inspection and sailing test - accompanied by the skipper - is available.

We are still open to offers above the asking price and would like to finalize a purchase agreement, including 10% security deposit, by Wednesday, November 11th. From there we would encourage you to arrange an independent survey as well as in-person inspection and sea trial if you require.

Assuming both parties are satisfied, finalization of sale can then be made upon transfer of the remaining balance, preferably in December.

Madogwy is currently in Puerto Montt, Chile where she can conveniently be viewed, test sailed and serviced if desired. There are flights from Santiago which is connected globally. Puerto Montt is the epicenter of sailing in Chile and long-term storage (including on land, approximately $350 USD/Mo) can be arranged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Puerto Montt is an excellent jumping off point for a downwind tour of the Patagonian canals on the way to the Beagle channel or Strait of Magellan. It is also on the edge of the trades positioned to begin a downwind sail into the South Pacific. If you are interested in returning the boat to Europe or the US east coast, either by yourself or via delivery captain, the easiest routing would be through the Panama canal.

Headroom in the saloon is 190cm and the rest of the boat is 180cm. The berths are quite long (220cm) so you can stretch out lying down.

A ultrasonic hull survey was done when we purchased Madogwy. A maximum of  0.1mm deviation from the original thickness was found, most likely due to manufacturing tolerance of the plate. There was no evidence of structural corrosion or wastage.

The lines are not led to the cockpit but sailing single handed is still possible with care and practice. As with any boat this size, docking in windy conditions solo will be a challenge but can be done with some preparation and lots of fenders!
